it just takes time
I am feeling impatient about the slow seasonal transition here in Michigan. We are several days into May. Signs of Spring are everywhere. Tulips! Tiny green leaves on trees!! So many bunnies!!! And yet, as I write this, it is a chilly 52 degrees and cloudy. I am still wearing my wool socks daily and a beanie when I go outside.
Spring is a time of new beginnings and when I am in most in awe of the natural world. I am not the girl who can name all the flowers or trees or birds, but I am endlessly inspired by it all.
Bits of the natural world make their way into lots of my work, but in these two new pieces, my awe and inspiration are impossible to miss.
It Just Takes Time and Upside Down and Inside Out are odes to and celebrations of the beauty that nature gives us and the lessons it teaches us. They remind me that everything is always changing (and not necessarily in comfortable and sensical ways) and that things happen on a timeline that we don’t get to control (as much as we wish that we could).
Remembering these things softens my impatience (if only for a moment) and puts me back in the present, in the process, in the now.
Which is the only place we can ever really be.
